I posted my story idea for a game set in the Amazon here: http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=373222 Basically it'd be about survival in the jungle. I would want it to be really intense, every encounter with a deadly animal would be a challenge. Not "oh look I have a machine gun and 3 jaguars are trying to kill me! Oh well I can kill them all". I'm saying that everytime you encounter something you'd actually have to deal with them realisticaly. The gameplay would alternate between playing as some guys lost in the middle of the jungle, which would be all about survival and suspense. And playing as a group of people captured by rebels trying to escape, which would be more of a puzzle because these rebels will try and kill anyone who tries to escape (it'd become more action oriented later). You only play as one person in each party (the people lost in the jungle, or the ones being captured) but you're with a group of people for nearly the entire game. How you interact with these people would form the dialouge of course, and the storyline. The gameplay would be in 1st person as well. But you dont see your hands or you weapons until you need them (by pressing a button to grab an object or something)... That's all...
Sounds a bit like the popular LOST, I don't know I think to create really original games you have to take a certain concept; for example pirates/vampires/vikings and then put it in an extremely different context (like outer space or ancient egypt).

Why not turn the story around? play a jaguar who can hunt for people that try to survive in the jungle???

Try to think out of the box! games should not incorporate the limitations that the real world imposes. Design a soccer game with 100 players on a field that is 1km by 1km and play with 10 balls things like that....

....allright I'm wandering off here ...probably because I'm frustrated to discover Prince of persia revelations on the PSP is exactly the same as Prince of Persia Warrior Within that i played on the XBOx.... but why do they call it different and use different screenshots on the box????

I like the jungle survival idea. It sounds quite fun to me.

I'd play that. :)

Actually, there was a game sort of similar where you played as a deer and had to avoid getting killed by hunters. I think you could also kill the hunters with your horns. :)

That would be hilarious. I'd so give that game a try. Just think of the chaos!

Or how about a game where you play as an angry bull in a bull fighting arena and your goal is to gore the hell out of the matador. It would be a simple game but nice and gory, muahahha. >:) Now that's just good gaming. I'd play that.
At first I though of some simple jungle survival game, but then I saw LOST and decided I could add a mysterious element to it (it's not super strange with monsters or hatches though). So I guess it sort of is inspired by LOST.

Well then you better hurry up as ABC is probably already negotiating with game companies to yet milk out another media LOST spinoff in the form of a game ;-)

And then in differnet parts of the field you would have different gravity or very hard winds or snowstorms or boobytraps. Now that would be nice wouldn't it? You'd have 200 happy gamers and you'd have a unique sports game inspired by a real sports game but without any physical limitations.
