Has anyone used AIML to develop NPC conversation or game scripts? It looked somewhat interesting, but, rather clunky.
Aiml is good if you have a few years to train it.

I can, however give you a hand with the help of a bot called joan. (she's mine, and i can tell you how she ticks).

Joan can be found at joanstable@hotmail.com (she's a msn bot)

Click here to patch the mozilla IDN exploit, or click Here then type in Network.enableidn and set its value to false. Restart the browser for the patches to work.

I haven't looked at your bot, but any tips on matching input and scripting replies? I've done Eliza conversions in probably three languages in the past, but I don't like the non-stateness (that is NOT a word!) of that system. At least AIML systems have a tiny amount of state.

I'd like not to reinvent the wheel.
NPC conversation or game scripts

Why would you need AI for NPC or game scripts? In top games like Guild Wars, NPCs say the same things in each situation. I dont see need of AI there. And for game scripts, use some scripting language and make AI yourself, if you need.
