Tactical RPG
I think Tactical RPG have a great future. Although currently most T-RPG are made by Japan, I really hope to see some Western Companies start making these type of games. Looking into the market, there is a growing market/popularity for T-RPG, especially after the release of FFT. And just last month, www.TacticalRPG.com just launched, further proving the increasing market/popularity. So what you guys think?

Also, tacticalrpg.com has just celebrated its first birthday, so it definately hasn't been up for just a month.
Man, I love tactical rpgs. I wish they made them for the pc. Or how about a tactical/rpg strategy game? Like Heroes of Might and Magic meats Ogre Tactics? That would be cool. I wish someone would make that. Oh wait, someone is.

Read the detail on that news, it's launched on the 16th of December 2005, which is less than one month ago
FFT may not be the best TRPG out there, but it is certainly the most recognized TRPG, partially because of the Final Fantasy title

Someone did! Me! Well actually, I only made it on Frozen Throne's WorldEditor, and it's running pretty smoothly

Don't forget games like Fire Emblem, Advance Wars and Nippon Ichi's games. They have their own cult fanbase. Fire Emblem goes back to the days of the NES.
There's also Shining Force for the Genesis; you shouldn't forget that series. Tactical RPGs have been around for a while; they just tend to lurk a bit more than the better-known genres.
Jetblade: an open-source 2D platforming game in the style of Metroid and Castlevania, with procedurally-generated levels
There still hasn't been that one "breakout" tactical RPG title in America yet (FFT was the closest, but still niche), and many American companies are worried to release something that is targeted at a niche market.
I agree that we need some good American tactical RPGs (I'm sick of every RPG using the anime style). So go make one! :)

I agree with you. I am also sick of every T-RPG using anime style.

As does Advance Wars.
Intelligent Systems has produced:
Famicom Wars (Famicom being the Japanese name for the NES) in 1988
Gameboy Wars (Japanese) in 1991 (all Gameboy Wars titles had a weird offset tile map and no generals)
BS Super Famicom Wars in 1998 (BS = Broadcast Satellaview-X. Basically a Nintendo Japan version of the Sega Channel, where you could download special games. Super Famicom Wars had a very similar look to Advance Wars, just with a darker palette)
Advance Wars in 2001
Advance Wars 2 in 2003
Advance Wars: Dual Strike in 2005
There where also some licenced sequals to Gameboy Wars:
Gameboy Wars Turbo by Hudson Soft (1997)
Gameboy Wars 2/3 for Gameboy Color by Hudson Soft (1998/2001)
Except for the Advanced Wars games all of Wars series titles where released in Japan only. The first Advance Wars game was actually released in the US on 9/11, which delayed the European and Japanese release (Japan never actually got Advance Wars 1, instead Japan got a combo cartridge in 2004 that had Advance Wars 1 and 2 on it)
