Any one else hate their job?
Work for an advertising agency, with a bunch of older rich farts who think they have a taste of what creative is. Just sick of bustin balls on a flash presentation and having the account leader (who hates me with a passion) change everything on it because she can't stand that I'm a good designer. (Reason being I've called her out on things in the past, so she holds it against me). So then she hands it over to this older guy, dont mean any disrespect, but has no talent in his body, and doesnt even understand flash to give me direction. I feel like Peter on the Family guy, "What am i supposed to do with all this talen?! Just rub myself all over with it in the tub?!" Just frustrated and feeling held back from what I really want to be doing, designing 3d for games. Not these losers. Anybody else in a creative position held back from producing fine work?
Basically, you continue to pay your dues being bossed around. Eventually when you are old and crusty they will pass the reigns on to you. By that time, all the talent and creativity will have been sucked out of you and you'll be using new fangled tools that you have no clue about.
So quit your job. How can you possibly make things any better by letting them stay the same? Put YOURSELF in control of the situation. Either put yourself in a better one, or make due with the one you're in (ie, try speaking to the people causing you problems).

Well quiting would be the dumbest move right now, my wife and I both work full time in order to make due with the bills. If one of us lost our job, our bills would be more then our income.
Really i am making steps towards changing my situation, working toward advancing my career down another path, but unfortunately i have to deal with the problems at work. I've tried bringing them up, but of course these persons have the listening ear of the owner, because theyve been in business for a long time together. So no matter what i do or say, im always wrong :(.

Are you sure your name isn't really scotths and you just signed in under another account called Yammine? Because that sounds like my life, just add another ten years and some kids to the mix. Actually I don't mind my job so much, but it took a long time to get here.

well...you're in a very subjective domain...
of course the old and crumbling people don't have the same tastes for arts and design as you
it's another generation
if I was you I'd just grit my teeth while waiting for them oldies to die :)
unless you wake up every morning feeling like shit because you have to go to work...then you gotta do something else
just go see Grandma's Boy...the guy was a wealthy accountant and became a poor game tester because it made him happier

so your upset that they do not bow down to your artistic/design ability? Didnt someone tell you that art is totally unappreciated, underpaid, and misunderstood. Can you really be mad at them, no one cares that you can design good. What they have apparently noticed is that you think your better than everyone else. That would probably annoy me too.
IMHO, the only way you're really going to be happy in a creative field is if you're working for yourself... Why not start freelancing, or apply for a business grant and start your own design firm? Once you get established, and can pick and choose your own clients, the sense of freedom is incredible.
I worked for a company where the philosophy was "make it look good enough, just do it quickly." Every game I worked on was creatively castrated to make monthly quotas, so we could just keep cranking out crappy titles. It wasn't until I left and starting freelancing again, that I could start putting some more effort and pride in my work. My portfolio, my professional reputation and my peace of mind have all really benefitted from the change...

Yammine, I understand where you are coming from. I had a boss who didn't like my ideas, but would bring them up as his a week later. The whole experience was difficult. I could not recommend enough that you and your wife take steps to reduce your monthly income requirements. For all that I've done that was supposed to hurt my ability to get a good job, I succeeded and now have a great job where I am appreciated. You can't have the freedom to find that job if you can't find the time to look for it. :-\
