Original post by DapperDan I can't say much more about the story line, however I can give you some insight into the design.
Can you tell us which side you play? I am guessing you play the rebels as you have biosuits, but still; Rebels or Army? A simple 'No' will surfice if you can't dilvulge it.
Original post by DapperDan You play the military side...years after the war has already been going on, so both sides have their own bio armor.
Cool; I still think you should use the same engine and make the other side also. It would give you more money for your work as all the hard parts are done already.
{NPC comments: "!@#$% Rebels" "Man, these suits are too heavy" "Stupid scientists, always causing trouble" "Down with the rebels!" "Bravo team!" "Man this is really FUBAR."
/Drops grenade and wipes out two teammates and himself /Gets in fight with teammate /Tired of life and kills himself /shoots ally by mistake /discharges gun in foot /laughs at another teammate and gets knocked out /makes crude joke /randomly trips /falls off a ledge and breaks arm /throws-up /bumps into commanding officer and gets beat up

Would be interesting to see some one take the CoH/CoV aproach right off the bat, offer 2 diffrent games both with the ability to play each other online. You, however; run into the problem that if one is sold more then the other the teams will get unbalanced and you could not use any autobalance feature... I see a nice prospect there if you took this path though, working out all the flaws and all...
Perhaps sell the other side as an exansion later, and do not support multi-player untill the expansion comes out, perhaps make the multi-player a continuation of the battle AFTER the storyline of the 2 "games"... (ramble, ramble, ramble)
Well, I've already designed an online mode that is like guild wars. However you chose your side, make your squad(guild). With the character development that I've designed this would be tons of fun, plus it wouldn't be to difficult to allow squads to enter a giant server of two teams (military/rebels) and allow squads to join either side. This way if the sides become unbalanced a group of our AI could easily replace the squads. Obviously there are some flaws to work out, but this would be possible to do with trench areas and cities. Anyways, I'd need a massive army of programmers and artists to get a game ready where you are able to play either side.
I do like the idea of releasing an expansion with the aim of playing the otherside, but I don't want to rob anyone of multiplayer. I simply love FPS online too much to do that. lol, perhaps more multiplayer modes in the expansion...lol the possibilities are really unlimited with this design of mine, but you won't be getting much more of the design out of me at this point in time.
Thanks for those ideas/actions for the game too :). The more I get the more funny and diverse my game will be :)
Soldiers: "This food tastes nasty... wanna go hunt some penguins/walrus/polar bear"? "Umm, this is Antarctica... I don't think they even have polar bears around here." "It's friggin' cold." Black Soldier:"Brrr... stupid affirmative action! I was born and raised in Jamaca for crying out loud!" "Man, we try helping Mother Nature out and we wind up in the middle of some godforsaken freezing wilderness... when I get home I'm gonna pollute like there's no tommorow!" "Hey [insert name here], want a popsicle? It's lemon flavored." "Hey [insert name here], want to go ice fishing?"
soldiers have a snowball fight a soldier carves little figurines out of ice a soldier makes graffiti in the snow
soldiers play video games in handheld devices, during an EMP attack the device breaks down, they snap to attention and look around.
soldiers complian about the rats, one soldier pulls a dead-frozen rat out of his sleeping bag and tosses it out of the trench.
soldiers play with penguins (train them to do tricks, sit outside and feed the penguins scraps, catch them and draw little bow-ties or watches on their bellys)
soldiers excersise inside (do pushups, lift weights, etc.) sometimes there will be competitions between two soldiers while the rest cheer them on and place bets.
soldiers play videogames, after awhile another comes by and says "Hey, stop playing that stupid game and get your work done!" or "Hey, Tubby do your excersises before you sit infront of that thing."
soldiers roughhouse, gripping eatchother in headlocks and giving them nooggies, poking them lightly in the sides with knives, playing "keep away" with a helmet or piece of bio-suit (nothing explosive).
soldiers make fun of prisoners (make jokes at them, leave them tied up and put bits of fish on them then let penguins peck the food off, tie them to a chair and force them to watch ten hours of "Barney and Friends")
Journalists pester the soldiers, liberal journalists pester the soldiers and complain about every time the soldiers play with penguins, joke at the prisoners, attack the enemy, complain about the journalist or generaly do anything fun.
Soldiers watch TV, either news or movies or whatever.
Soldiers use full-body VR simulation-gaming console. The VR console starts with combat-training programs to learn to handle equipment or prepare for a mission. However, some technologically minded soldiers make special video games that work on it (they look like hacked versions of the combat simulations like "capture the flag" a primitive soccer game or anything YOU want to throw in) they also can have records of previous battles the soldiers fought so the player can "redo" them but it doesn't affect the real storyline.
Soldiers engage in wacky shenanigans like using napalm or grenades to met a huge hole in the ice and go ice-fishing. Drag-race the vehicles. Use a tank to get a jeep out of a ditch... or out of the ice if it got frozen into the ice during their ice-fishing attempt. Go on polar bear hunts to make fur rugs (even though there are no polar bears in Antarctica... so its just an excuse to drive around and shoot patches of snow... though with this storyline its possible that environmentalists tried putting polar bears in Antarctica anyway)
General profanity is always acceptable, because after all, it is war. Complaints about how cold it is. Jokes, Random Stories (Overexaggerated stories), Etc. Oh, and as previously mentioned, it would be cool if you had someone in your game with a pet penguin, kind of like a helper monkey.
Well, I'll have more to add when I'm not so tired.
