Ideas for PHP RPG
Check what I have so far: vancity Vancity is a PHP-based in-browser-played text-menu/pictorial RPG. First of all, here's some of my ideas of stuff to add later: Give characters a 'squirrel-crafting' skill level. They can use this skill to turn squirrel-corpses of squirrels they've killed into useful items. First few attempts at squirrel-crafting fail, but character learns, and eventually character can make fur hats and coats, which can be sold on players' market or given to the gnome-people so they don't freeze when winter comes. Also, give characters a 'strip-teasing' skill level. They can use this skill to turn the company of idle metropolitans into game cash. First few attempts at strip-teasing fail, but character learns, and eventually can use it downtown to make small stream of income. These are just joke ideas to see what's possible, but I enjoy hearing more like this. More serious idea would be to add content like new items or places to visit every week to keep people interested. But that's just one idea. So, do people have any things to suggest? New items, weapons, places, and NPC's are the easiest things to add to the RPG, so feel free to tell me if you have any interesting ideas. I just finished my last major project last weekend (the chem-evol in the 'Artificial Intelligence' section. check it out!), so I'll have time to work on this RPG on weekends.
I like it, its kinda funky...
Yeah, might play it again sometime.

That is a good start! It's just that I got through almost all the content in about five minutes. [grin] Pretty funny in some places.
It's neat, if a little skimpy on content. How about something for me to do with the two kalashnikovs I found (stole?)? I can't find any money, either. Maybe I just suck at the game, though.
No, you guys are right. There's NOTHING to do right now. I made this topic to see if anyone was interested/had any ideas.
I can add more levels, items, eye-candy, and graphics to the interface, but what's the point if the whole concept stinks, right?
Right now I have a few odds and ends, but no concrete vision for the whole game. That's why I came to you guys.

How about some inter-player interaction? Everyone I see has been idle for 233342435873659 seconds or so, so I can't expect to be online at the same time as them, but how about some kind of away message system, or generic greeting that I could put in? When somebody tries to talk to me in-game when I'm not around, it says, "I'm Bones, proud owner of two AK-47s. I enjoy walking, stomping squirrels and not quite getting into nightclubs. Go away."
Your town has a framework for lots of neat stuff. Just add a few rooms. You could have little games, too. Some kind of simple guess-the-number game or a hangman-type game might be easy enough to write, and players could compete for molotov cocktails and squirrel corpses.

Want one of mine?
Edit: ANother neat feature would be some way to make announcements in-game that other players can access. SInce it's so rare for players to be on simultaneously, I'd like to be able to leave messages where they can be found. If you implement some kind of commerce, then the message board can also serve as an auction feature, or some kind of automated storefront.
And you'd probably get some of that cussing Steve wants.
