I have a laptop with 64 megs of RAM that I used to use with BlackBox. It ran a little slow, but fine otherwise (the CPU is in the 400mhz range). However, since I only use it as a server I recently reinstalled without X. If you can live without X, I highly recommend it ... but if you insist on a window manager here's a list of X11 Window Managers for FreeBSD
