Mini-game integration into MMOs
Ok. Ive got a challenge for you. What mini-games or mystery game (think nancy drew or Myst or DarkFall) puzzles do you think would fit into a post-apocalyptic MMO? For example...someone posted a great little mini-game in my thread about healing called REaKtor. While its a bit simple, I feel that interactive puzzles could definitely enhance the reactiveness (pardon the usage) of the environments in MMOs. Post anything you think fits: medical, platform, cryptology, matching, memory, turn-the-dial...you name it. Just as long as you could see it fitting the interface for something inside an MMO. Im really curious to see what everyone comes up with!

Well, I was thinking if there's a mining skill you have one of those 'avoid the walls' racing games in a mine cart, you know, reaaaaly basic but addictive and fun.

If you had a "combat trainer" you could have moving target games (in you game engine) for accuracy training. However, if you have mini-games that belong to another style/genre, be very careful before including them as they can lessen a sense of world immersion and also they can get repritive if used on everyday tasks, like crafting or combat.
The mini-games idea is a great idea, but make sure they fit with your game and are not too common or repetitive.

Consider dart boards for training in thrown weapons, target practice for ranged weapons as methulah suggested, perhaps combat robots for martial arts practice.

Perhaps if the minigame was done along the lines of the final fantasy mini-games. Not necisarrily in the way of collectable card games, but perhaps something similar in that way...

Mastermind is always a good choice, always thought of that mini-game being good for hacking or rewiring things. There's also this other game, don't know the name of it, where you have lines and X's, and you have to get a straight line from point A to point B, but every time you click on an X to turn it into a line, other lines turn to X's and vice versa, so you eventually have to find the right combination. System Shock 1 had that in a few places.
