I was wondering what a 15 year old could do for classes. I mean are there any college type classes i could take? I ha....am reading alot pf boooks, but i also thought it would help if i could take some classes......? So do you know of anything(prefrably in minnisota) that i could take? They dont offer anything through my school, except intro to word prossesing, and some other sort of immage maoing thats for graphs and buissnes type stuff, not games. So i would really appreatiate some links, or just some advice on what to looke for. Thanks in advance!

If you want to write 3d games I would suggest absorbing and memorizing The Black Art Of 3D Programming..it has enough info to keep you busy for several months, and covers all the math from the ground up..it was published B.Q.(before Quake, but it has everything you need to build a solid code base..it also covers general game programming, so it''s all good

Another wasted youth.. *sigh* yep, no school has any real fufilling game programming things. At my school you have keyboarding and intro to computers. I was 100% self taught, I used books and the internet (very good, and it is catching on!! ) Hey wait a second!! I already helped you!! Dang Android... You could at least try... Where did you come up with the notion that he is lazy when all he did was ask for suggestions about what kinds of things he could do to be a game programmer? You seriously need to read through your posts a little better, maketty and think whether or not you are saying harsh things about someone for absolutely no reason.

Android 13:
If you don''t know how already, learn to do some programming and worry about game specific stuff later. I would recommend learning something like C or C++, maybe Java, or even possibly Visual Basic. Any of those will give you the basic concepts that you need to know about data structures and etc. The only book I can recommend is C by Dissection. I can''t remember the author, but is an excellent beginner level book for learning C.

If you already know how to program and want to make games, look through this site. There are TONS of articles to read. Many will be helpful right away, but some will be confusing. Don''t worry, they''ll make sense later. Remember to start small. You won''t be an expert overnight, but every bit of experience helps. Even if you think making a pong clone is a waste of your time, you might learn quite a few tricks and techniques that you can use later in more advanced games.

Your post was ignorant as heck, Android first asked me (in another post) about a "program" he could use to make a game like Age Of Empires!!! I told him about coding and gave him some info. Now he is asking almost the same type of question. Dang Jax, get it straight.

Let''s see here... In the other post you are talking about, Android 13 asked what DirectX was, how he could make a game like Age of Empires, and if anyone knew of free 3d level editors. In this post, he asks a barely related question about what kinds of classes he could take to learn about game development. Wow, that must certainly mean he is lazy! It could never mean that he really doesn''t know much about the subject and is curious!

I sure am glad you cleared that up for me, maketty. I was SOOOO ignorant when I tried to help the new guy out instead of being a jackass and calling him lazy.

Just because you helped him once with something else doesn''t mean he is lazy for asking again. He obviously is new to this. You have to start somewhere. I think you just need to be a little bit more patient with people like this. I''m sure it wasn''t long ago that you were a newbie too.

I don''t take it personal when someone tries to flame me on here because I realize that most of the people that do the flaming are about 14 and don''t know any better. Unfortunately, though, there are some people who will be upset by it. No sense getting something started for no reason.
