Somebody recomended to me gamestats.com for game statistic. But as I could see there is oly internal rating of games (like 8 of 10, etc.) I would like to find out numbers of sold units of particular games for each available platform.Actually at this moment Im interested in PC and GBA/DS platform. I don't really need precise numbers. Also where can I find numbers of sold video cards in retail (ATI and nVidia)? I would be very grateful if you could give me a link on resources about that subject or advice. Thanks.

Sales data is expensive to compile so the companies that have real sales figures all charge money. You can find a list or companies that can supply data at http://obscure.co.uk/directory_market.shtml. Other than that you will need to search news sites for tid-bits of information revealed in news stories. Takes longer, you get less info but it's free.

Thanks Dan. What news site would you recommend? All I read is Gamedev.net and Daily Telefrag. :( Where else can I look for game-related news?
Thanks!

Also....
Gamasutra.com
gamedaily.com/
MCV - also worth subscribing to the paper as they have a reasonable amount of info in the paper that doesn't ever make it onto the site.

Im working on business plan and I need some numbers. I found PR on Apple web site, so at least approximately I can pun number of Mac's users. I was trying to find the same info on Microsoft web site to figure out number of PC users by number of sold units of Windows XP. I couldn't find any info about sales :(
Please, help me out. I need number of XP units in US (I found that 13 mill of XP copies in US unlicensed :), EU, Asia, Australia.
Thanks.

If you are making games then the number of PCs Macs ISN'T a worthwhile statistic for your plan because not all PCs/Macs are used for gaming. The vast majority are stuck in offices and never see a game (beyond the pre-installed copy of Minesweeper). You need to define your target audience, which would be the number of Mac/PC users who play games.

Right. But how do I do this? I found number of people under 5, between 5 and 18, between 18 and 40 in US, EU (major countries), Australia, China, Japan, S. Korea. It's approximated, but close enough to reality. From that numbers I can find, again approx., how many people play games. But one person can have PC/MAc and console and portable gaming device at once. And play strategies or FPS on PC/Mac, other games on consoles. How can I determine number of people who use PC/Mac for games? It's not like consoles - 1 mill units was sold -> 1 mill people play games on it :)
Also recently I read report on number of PS2, XBox, GC, DS, PSP, GBA units sold and I haven't save it :( Now I cant find that numbers. I couldn't find it on NPD. I would be grateful if you could share link on that with me. At least approximately. Please.
Thanks.

I'm not sure for PC/mac games in general, but if you can get your hands on a PC GAMER magazine (April 2005) there is an article there with a very nice pie graph of how many players play online video games. More specifically the MMORPG video game market.
