I recently downloaded wings3d to try my hand at sub division modelling since Rhino3d, my modeller of choice does not support it. I finished my first head and want some feedback on the topology and look but cannot figure out how to save a render or take a screen snaphot and save it. I click the snaphot button but there is no option to save; same with the render. Anybody have any suggestions?
I've never used wings3D that much, but if you can't seem to find any way to save the image, can't you just take a screenshot with printscreen?
I'm assuming you're using windows, but just hit the printscreen button on your keyboard and then paste into mspaint.

Blender. Convert to blender.

The power of 3dsMax, for free, and with an impossible interface. ^^

I've used a whole sleu of modeling packages (anim8or [free; no longer supported], wings3d [free; lacking features], blender [free; difficult interface, extraordinary power], 3dsMax [$3,500; slightly more powerful and automated than Blender], GameSpace [~$300; slow to work with, powerful]), and blender is second best. The only thing better in my opinion would be 3dsMax, which costs ~$3500; although people have argued that once you get used to Blender, you actually prefer it.

If you take the time now to learn the more powerful software packages (rendering and the save of renders can be done quickly and painlessly), you will be rewarded greatly.
I would normally have recommended Blender but I've gotten tired of trying to force it on everybody that mentions "3D" :D

I think it's great for people to know what options they have, but in the end the choice is going to be up to them and it will be decided by what they feel most comfortable with.
Iv'e tried unsuccessfully to switch to blender several times. I need an interface that is not so keyboard reliant seeing as how I still cant type without looking at the keyboard. Thanks everyone for their relpies...im about to give blender another go with some 'beginners' tutorials. Pray for Slowpid.
You might want to look at Gamespace, then... It's about $300, but it can really do everything that blender can. It's just a bit slower to move around in... YET, the gui is more intuitive. Try Gamespace Light. It's free, and it's the same as Gamespace, with the exception of a few limitations. You will know what to expect, however, with your purchase.

I'm glad I could be of help.

That is helpfull, thanks. For 350 though you can buy maya student addition, I'd rather not pay though seeing as how I am not very good. Anyways, here is the work of my first two days with wings3d and my first ever sub-division model.....and for that matter, my first ever face. I chose an old man to see how hard it would be to re-enact the droopy skin. I had to download a program called poseray to take these pics....dunno why. Also, Does anyone know any tutorials that could help me texturize this guy with only free programs. I have the gimp, poseray, art of illusion and some others but cannot seem to find a way to use these programs to texture. Any suggestions would help and that you so much all for the help.

On to the pictures. Remember in C&C that this is my first sub model, wings model, head or any organic shape so technical talk will easily go above my head. Thanks again all!

I cannot get this one to post so I will use a direct link. Sorry about the resolution on these, kinda grainy.

Holy crap! That's exceptional.

Any ideas on a poly/tri count?
way way way to many for the amount of detail I had. This is two smooths down the road. I think its 10,000 to 20,000. Thanks for the comment! Unfortunaty the topology is horrible and there are far to many needless triangles and poles to allow for an animation of any kind. (at least thats what all the tutorials said)
That is a fantastic head, though the poly's are far to high for practical use. ;D

You could try using Lithunwrap to UV map that sucker, its free but you'll have to export it into a compatible format first.
