Hmmm, interesting idea, (probably been done already). How about giving players the ability to take part in their own poverty- money lenders saga, by creating a bunch of specially programmed The Sims items. Ie. The father is an unstable alcoholic who spends money he doesn't have on drink, then uses the local loan shark to finance it. So you would have the loan shark turn up and reposess your stuff and threaten to break his legs. etc. There could be a "sexy" neighbour that is programmed to try it on with .. The teenage pregnancy storyline, with the young sim getting the neighbour up the duff and having to pay maintenance. Or how about having one of the wage-earners fall ill with a chronic illness / long-term illness. Or becoming addicted to drugs I think that this is interactive story-telling. And an antidote to the kind of "hero" fantasies that are so prevalent, (admittedly I doubt too many people would want to play something utterly bleak.. but maybe if it was tempered with moments of true beauty and heart). ETC. Any thoughts on this?
Well, how realistic do you want this to be? The game won't be all that much fun if you get sent to jail for life, or just get randomly shot by some thug on your street corner.

I'll admit that I would enjoy playing it, though. Some of the other people here might be able to talk about some games that follow this sort of style, but I only seem to play the happy-go-lucky-elf-and-gnome games...
gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.

I dunno what if it turns into Oz the computer prison drama having to exchange cigs for things. the other characters sending photos and letters saying how they are.
I can almost picture it already - the Sims meets Grand Theft Auto...
...meet "Leisure Suit Larry"...
