If want to create levels that you don't need to learn blender, or photoshop. Just choose your favorite big name game most of them have level editors which you can use to create levels for that game and share them on the internet. Once you've gained enough experince doing that you'll know what other skills you need.
Center on one thing - either be a level designer, or a coder, or whatever
You can't handle it on your own, if you do want to make something like Halo :)
May the sun shine upon you

Understood. I completely understand what you all mean. Im sticking to Level Designing. Check this out also, I made a couple maps using Unreal Editer for Unreal Tournament 2004. I have some movies and they helped me out alot. I love making maps it just cool's my mind and I press my thoughts into a new world.
Sorry for the /bump but I was kinda expecting a response. Anyways I been making maps for Unreal 2K4 and I understand how everything works. I know how to put maps togeather and understand the player starting things and weapon spawns and which of course is not the same on other games. But what do I need to do to understand how to make those textures? What format do I save them in? I really dont understand that part.
One suggestion I have is to make levels for more then one game. Unreal, Quake, and Halflife are nice because they are so different. Try to light a few levels also. It takes me more time to light a level then it does to design one. There are large communities that are into only level design. Someone else will have to help you with links, I dont use them anymore myself.
