Well... they're both 2D fighters with stick figures, but the similarities between this and what I'm making start getting kind of sparse from there.
The techniques in the game are very much scripted, as in traditional fighting games. That is, every time you press the punch button, you throw the exact same punch, at the exact same height, the same with kicks and special techniques.
I guess that's the biggest thing I'm trying to avoid with my game, and why I'm using the mouse instead of just a keyboard (I suppose joystick+mouse could work, but why?). Keyboard only controls are just too limiting, and pretty much force scripted techniques. Player movement will still be keyboard based, but I want the attacks to be fairly realistic and fluid which requires more dynamic mouse controls.
