Well I've started thinking about this, and what packages would you like to see in a linux distro(by default not adding it in later)? I'm thinking things like: gcc Java Python SDL, SDL_image/mixer/net clanlib allegro aalib(woot) mesa pygame gVim Emacs(yes I use both :O) IDLE Eclipse Anjuta The GIMP ImageMagick Blender Wings3D Audacity What would you like in your system? Firefox mplayer gaim xchat [Edited by - eedok on March 4, 2005 4:45:26 PM]
CodeBlocks. I'd been using it a lot recently and wouldn't want to go back to Anjuta.

My ideal distro would have the ability to unplug and replug my USB mouse and have it still work. That is the holy grail of linux distros.
I like the DARK layout!
A standardized graphical interface which looks good for all software.
Windows fonts

Seconded.

A few additions:

irssi
xmms
Windows (sorry couldn't resist, but in my defence if anyone asked what they'd like in windows, someone would say linux)

MP3 support out of the box.
I'm looking at you, RedHat!

It'd also be nice to have KDE/Gnome, XFCE, Emacs, Firefox (which, the last time I checked, is rare to see by default)
There're just a ton of things that I use so often it'd take years to list them all.
