BitTorrent for MMOG and other games?
What do you think about the concept of using BitTorrent-like technology to provide the necessary bandwidth for MMOGs (massive-multiplayer online games)? I don't know about you, but to me, it seems like it could work. I think it could even be used to support voice communications in games, and on that note, even allow the transmission of audio/video for purposes of internet radio/television. What are your thoughts on this? Are there any major limitations I'm not seeing?

it will be quite difficult to start up I guess. I mean we are not talking about wow here.If it is a not so popular game, then in the first a couple of month or so.there wont be too many users.and the whole idea of bit torrent is that the more users the faster it is.as a result, until there are decent number of users, the performance is gonna be pretty low.and it may never get popular, because ppl think it is slow.thats my 2 cents anyway.
Still, bittorrent is quite popular nowadays even though it had the same problem when starting up. If there is something else about it that appeals to users during startup, I think such a system has good chances of becoming popular.

Um, do you understand how Bittorrent works and what it is meant for?
Simply answer: No, Bittorrent could not in any way be used for things like voice communication. Streaming anything over a 'Bittorrent' like protocol (whether it be video, audio, or live gameplay information) is an exercise in futility - you aren't dealing with Bittorrent anymore, you're dealing with HTTP.
