Getting a real model

Hi, Here's a question: Suppose you've made a nice 3-D model for a game, and you like it so much that you'd like to have a real, physical model of it, at least the shape. Maybe for promotional purposes or whatever. How would you go about finding a business that has machines that can, say, read in an object file and produce some kind of polymer prototype or something like that? I've heard about these kinds of machines, but I don't know who has them or if they are even practical to consider using for this purpose. C.
"rapid prototyping" is the magic word. Ask google :)
