Hello all! This being my first post here (and not my last) i need some help. Ive been programming for a long time, though just recently with c++. I taught myself basic, html, java-scripting and what i know of c++. All i can really do is make weeny DOS programs that involve text. All i need is a reference of some sort that tells me what c++ words mean (prefferably in an understandable way) and some sample source code, and im on my way. I taught myself BASIC in a few minutes just by going to teh help file whenever i didn''t know what something did. I think a good place to start would be a simple vertical scrolling shooter (like Tyrian or Raptor). If someoe would like to be my Mentor (!!!) and kidna guide me thorugh the begigning of stuff, id be most grateful. To start, i think it would be good if someone had a simple game that involved using graphics, in source they could email me, that would be the greatest. As for what i have to work with: Visual c++ 5.0 pro (the whole works) 3d studio LE (i am good at making my own art in ANY program) and Poser 4.0 i d/l and am learning how to use. thank you for reading! Well, for starters, you have to buy
Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus.
It is THE book for newbies to learn from in my opinion.
As for mentoring, drop me a line and i''ll feed you my ICQ #.

Yeah C++ is very complicated and if you only got that far on the easier languages you need to get a book and learn proper and put in a lot of effort
