Hey, I'm planning on using RakNet and I have read the docs but I would really like to see a tut. on how to use RakNet efficiently in a game.

Doesn't the RakNet SDK include some samples?

What are you having problems with? Or is it just an overview you're looking for?

yes, there are tutorials that come with RakNet but the only example as an implementation into a game (i.e. how exactly to use rpcs, etc) is more complicated than what im looking for. Sure, i could go google it and all, but i wanted to scout for a "good" tut someone has already found and recommends... thx

-edit-
Outside of what comes with teh RakNet :)

On a more general note, how the architecture is usually set up for a client-server model in reference to a gaming environment. Like, how to work gamestates and such using raknet... Basically I'm having trouble with the specifics of creating a packet (which i know is in the tut), knowing what information to put in the packet (which is on the faq), and basic data organization. So what I'm really asking again, is for an example of i guess you could say the "theory" behind how to work this in a game (maybe i should by a book :( )... i have no money!

ok, i was a nice guy and whipped this up for you.. its my first experiment with RAkNet, and online pong clone. theres a lot to be done with it, but it should serve as a decent quick and dirty example on how all this stuff works. what really sucks is that i actually made a cleaned up and nice version of this, but i lost it [sad]. well, this will have to due then. click here to download it. let me know if you run into any problems. (run the server, then open 2 clients to check it out.. you can press T to engage in chat, arrow keys to move.. i used to have a score and stuff, but like i said i lost that nice version.. oh well).

Wow, thanks graveyard filla! I did some research on this thread a while back when it was first posted and I could not come up with anything myself from Google. This thread got me intrested in the use of RakNet for my game. I will have to check the license though. I gave your demo a try and it works great! I will take a look at the project a little later when I need to do networking stuff, but this will come in handy. Here's a screenshot of it in action [smile]

Cheers and thanks for your work!
