How do I get the IP of an email server through some sort of programmable thing? I need to do this for my server thingy that I''m writing. jhky said that I need to do some sort of special request for a mail server, but how do I do that? She also said that sites like hotmail.com direct you to multiple IP''s. --------------------------- Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell your...don't tell your family. The GDTalker

AHHH, You need to get the MX record for a domain? I don't think there's a winsock option to do that, you're gonna have to write your own DNS client. It's really pretty easy to write a minimal DNS client, and a fun project too, it's a simple protocol.

Dang you! =)

I don''t know if I still have the source code, it was from a project I decided to ditch, so I might not have saved it. I''ll look for it, but in any case, you''ll want to at least scan through RFC 1035. I remember seeing a VB DNS Query example on the web somewhere... I''ll see if I can find it.
