Alright, you guys got me to install Ubuntu as the second linux distribution I've tried! Yay!

Any tips for someone who is moving from SUSE and hasn't used anything else except Solaris?

Ok, I'm having some problems. Sorry.
1) Ubuntu said it wasn't going to create a root user (instead use "sudo") but when I try to change the time it asks for a password. I've tried both "" and "sudo" but it gives me this error
Quote: Failed to run /usr/bin/time-admin as user root:
Child terminated with 1 status:

2) I noticed Firefox is out of date (0.9.3) what is the best way to upgrade?

And yes Ubuntu definitely has my stamp of approval! Very easy to install, very clean.
Nevermind, fixed number 1. I just had to enter my normal password. I'm such a dunce, just used to entering the root password that's all [wink]

I am not sure about #2, but I would think that the newest firefox is available on debian apt mirrors. In that case it should just be an apt-get away! Maybe someone can fill in the details, I have never used debian or ubuntu.

Currently my warty repository contains:
* Firefox 1.0 backported from Hoary.

...

To use my repository add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list file.

## some updated warty packages from Markus Hubig
deb http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~ut8g/ubuntu warty-updates main universe
deb-src http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~ut8g/ubuntu warty-updates main universe

And from there, you should be able to run Synaptic / Apt and upgrade to get firefox 1.0

Hope this helps
