Ignoring echo requests?
Hi, I was wondering if there was any way to configure my computer to ignore echo requests. I am running a web server and have had problems with script kiddies ping-flooding me. My OS is Windows Server and my web server is Microsoft IIS. Any information on this topic would be helpful. Thanks!
I don't know if M$'s firewall's built into Windows Server, but if it is, you can set it up to ignore some (or all) ICMP requests (including echo requests). If it doesn't, you could always try something like Sygate Personal Firewall. I've found that SPF works good when it comes to annoyances like that. You have to pay for it if you plan on using it in a business, but if you're not, then you can use it for free (click the link under 'Need a FREE Solution?').
