Iso; 44x44 Diamond Tiles, edges are wierd
I''m using the Ultima Online tile method (44x44 squares with a diamond shaped tile in the middle), and I am using some textures used for 3D texture mapping to get more realistic tiles. I am in paint shop pro, and I take the square texture, rotate it to the right 40 degrees, resize it to 44x44, and save it. I am getting some wierd results- I think it''s from the resizing.
1. The edges are all curvy (not too curvy, but enough so it''s not a diamond)
2. The bottom edge is ALWAYS 43 pixels from the top, leaving the edge looking like it''s curved.
What should I do??
Online RPGs.. Almost like another life! Except for whenswitching back to real life, sometimes I forget there isn'ta profanity filter..
Shouldn''t you be rotating by 45 degrees? UO uses 45 degree isometric view. 40 degrees rotation will give wierd results.
To get the right tile size, rotate the texture (by 45 degrees) and then resize to the correct size. Play around with the different resampling methods as well to see which gives the best results.
You may also need to fix a few pixels by hand.
