Does anyone know of some good places on the net for getting free cube textures of just general backgrounds (like cityscape, space, jungle, etc.) All searches I've attempted just return guides and descriptions, which I don't need, just after a library of freely accessable images to put me on until my artist returns from holiday. Thanks in advance for any references.

I got few of cubemaps with some Direct 3D sdk or something ... or maybe it was some different 3D SDK hmm.. it was a long time ago, sorry.

You might look into Terragen terrain rendering. While they won't be able to cover needs for non-environmental stuff, they do excellent skyboxes for nature scenes, including mountains, oceans, planes, deserts, and tons of different options for atmospheric conditions.
