first post - judge 3d face
i've been messing around with 3d studio graphics for game development for a while now just for fun. i figured since i borrow tutorials from here every once in a while i'd post some work in the forum. i know some features (ex: nose) are not perfectly proportional, but i wanted to make the face as life like as possible by modeling after a real picture. the image is just mesh smoothed, and about 350 faces; still needs a lot of work, but i felt like sharing it for now. any advice is appreciated. thanks. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mvannort/index.html
I think it's good. Well proportioned, strong bone structure, good overall shape. Since this is for game graphics though I might suggest lowering the number of polys you're using. 350 seems high for just a face, especially if you intend to add more detail, and add a body, hair, etc. That's just a general comment, though, if it suits your game then all the power to ya', it looks great.
One artistic comment I might make is that he looks like he has a sour disposition on. The shape of his mouth and eyes (what's there of them anyways) suggests he's already in a mood. Try making the expression more neutral.
