Hey, whats up? This is the design for a game a friend and I are currently developing. I just want to get your opinion on what you think of it. It's still in the early phases so a lot will probably change. The game is a FPS. We haven't thought of objectivs yet but we'll get there. These are the first concepts: The game is based around money. Money is your level. In order to gain more money, you can either kill neutral units(creep) and take their Information Plates, or take the enemies Information Plates, once killed. Creep will also be guarding upgrades, Information Plates holding weapon/armour/magic/ammunition researh. You can either keep the gained Information Plates for better strats, or cash it in for weapon/armour/magic/ammunition upgrades. The game will NOT be based around the biggest weapon. Ammuntion/armour will also need to be upgraded. To research an Information Plate will cost money. Information Plates can hold weapon/armour/magic/ammunition information. Basic Weapon Types: -Short Barrel -Long Barrel -Magic Barrel Only these base weapons will be available throughout the game. Bigger/better weapons will be available through upgrading. The player will choose which weapon he wants to specialise in, although it is possible to use all of them. Providing that they have been picked up or bought. Thanks [Edited by - Mr_Ridd on November 2, 2004 6:50:51 AM]
The ability to succeed is the ability to adapt
What kind of stats will there be? How will they affect the game play? Will the player specialize in weapon types or specific weapons?

You might want to take a look at System Shock 2. It had a good RPG system.

Personally I like the idea. My only question is: how does magic work when you have a big ol' gun in your hands?
Well strats will be like increased damage points and increased armour, a bit like Warcraft III when you see like +5 armour. We'll also develop our own strats though, not just the common armour, damage, agility etc.

How do you use magic when holding a gun? It's quite simple. You won't use the same gun to fire a rocket laucher and cast a magical spell. The "magic" guns will actually be totally new weapons that look "magical".

The whole aim of the game is not to get the biggest gun and f*** everyone up. I might have a short barrelled gun that I have upgraded 5 times and you have only upgraded your long barrel twice, then I would most likley take you out, unless you're exellent and you don't miss.

You'll also be able to use all the guns at the same time. You could for instace, because your short barrel is the most powerful, shoot "Fog" magic and then run in there with your short barrel.

A poison-casting 9mm. ... I want to play this game. :P
