Can you do better if you entered this compo?

I am not impressed at all with the people that entered and like I said the other day people make games like a 1 trick pony. The contest was to make a game that has a time theme and some didn't even make that well. The games are worth trying out but are not worth playing. They each have 1 good concept but that is the problem that they only have 1 good concept and they did not put a lot. One action game for instance has slow motion for a time but they could have done more like speed up time, jump back to time to get 2 players and over 10 more simple suggestions to use time. I am wondering if they even try, if they were just coding for fun to waste time. Well the first game is well presented but not my type of game and didn't implement time theme well which they could have done a lot with that too.

I would suggest if you want to see more entries (and thus higher probability for good content) then contests should be publicised more.
I would have loved to enter something interesting... given the chance. If you know of any contests, put up links (my apoligies if you did and I'm too blind to notice) [wink]

Coding for fun isn't neccesarily a waste of time - in fact, it's the reason a lot of people around here code; as a hobby, for enjoyment, rather than as a profession or to attempt to break into a profession.
As for not putting the maximal effort into what you do... an anchor tag isn't so much of a challenge to type out. [wink]

No one can design better or no one wants to I guess.
Here is another compo for the GBA which the top 7 games will be SOLD.

Coding for fun is not a waste since they do it to learn and have fun. But to have a chance at making a game that will do well which they and other will like is a waste. So far I see many competitions proving that independent gamers are not that good in design and the big companies do have more originally fun ideas.
