Booting To console

Hi i just installed slackware, and everything was fine except that when i boot linux now i only boot to the console, just want to know how to get a graphical login to start each time i log on, Thanks

you need to change the /etc/inittab file

There should be an init default setting, you'll need to change it from run level 3 to run level 4...

The setting should be at the top of the file

with a default installation, it will run gdm first (if installed) then kdm

Change 3 in "id:3:initdefault:" line for 5. 4 is, to my knowledge, unused. 5 shouldt start to X directly after boot.

No, slackware uses 4 for graphical login, 5 is the same as 3.
