Blood
I made this blood using the clouds filter in Photoshop. I then used the radial blur to make it look like it splatted. I used the magic selection tool, inverted the selection, then used variations to color the blood. I uses dodge and burn to get a few highlights and lowlights. What do you guys think? clicky I wanted it to look a little real but more anima too. [Edited by - sakky on August 30, 2004 1:15:55 PM]
Take back the internet with the most awsome browser around, FireFox
You should use another server to host your image, Geocities have a really low bandwith limit (I can't see the image)

and if you post a hyperlink to the webpage instead of a direct image anchor, then people won't be downloading your image each time they hit this forum post, only those who want to see the image will get it, and only once each since the weburl will be cached (these forum pages do not cache, because they change).
It loaded up for me fine. Damn :( !!! Well if you still want to see it may I offer you an email and send it to you instead. I have no other way of posting graphics on the web other then geocities.

Convert the picture to png or jpg, much faster download
times.
The blood effekt look quite nice though, but it might become
difficult to animate.

Yes, yes, I should have used a better format. I just wanted to show it to people. I think It would be difficult to animate as well unless it used as a base sprite. It would be thrown down on the ground with a few other sprites mixed wit hit, or maybe not. I just wanted to try to make some cool looking blood.
Next time, I’m going to use the splatter paint brushed in Photoshop and enlarge about 175%. I’m working with a large 512x512 picture that will be scaled down to 52x52 or 128x128. I start with larger picture because I can get more detail in them. I’ll use the paint brush in the alpha channel with in a TGA format. The picture will just be a dark clouded read. Pretty cool eh?

Ahh my poor dialup connection! BMP's are too big lol.
It looks really freaken cool, but like everyone else said, hard to animate. My suggestion is to use a particle system, so say you chop the guy in the gut, it squirts a bunch of blood from his stomach (and you can make the blood textures in photoshop) and if you chop him in the head, straight down, then it oozes off the top of his head. That would be freaken cool.
I guess it would be difficult to get that to work well, and not hurt the framerate, but it would be neat. Man I wish I could draw as good as you lol.
