scene splitting
hi, i'm curently working on a game project and the engine supports exported scenes from max but as tiles of 64x64 units, but i've created the whole scene say of 512x512 and now i have to split it in 64x64 chunks exactly...is there a way to accomplish this without cutting all necessary faces? a script or something? I'm using 3DSMax 6.thank you.
I'm assuming you are talking about a rendered image from 3dsMax? Not actually importing model data...
My suggestion IF you are talking about the rendered image... bring it into ImageReady (sister software to Adobe Photoshop), go into your guides, grid, and slices preferences (edit -> preferences -> guides, grid, and slices) and set your ruler units to pixels.
Set your gridline to every 64 pixels and your subdivision to 1. Click okay. Go to View -> Show -> Grid. Make sure that View -> Snap To -> Grid is checked. Then, use the Slice Tool (shortcut key: k), and create a slice inside every grid. Then, file -> save for web, in the upper right, set your file setting prefs. Then click "Save". When the save dialogue appears, make sure Save as ty;e: is "Images Only" and Slices: is "All Slices".
This will export all your 64 x 64 images for you :)
Let me know if you have any questions.
