license for UT2004 engine
I have some questions! For example: Small new team decided to start develop games and they decided to start from add-on to UT2004 (partial conversion or total conversion). New levels, new characters, new weapons, new rules. It might be even single player add-on. A team doesn't want to deal with engine programming. That's why they decided to tka UT2004 engine as a basement for a project. Do you know how much the license is going to cost (make add-on for the certain game and sell it) ??? Or other way. Team wants everybody can play their total conversion, not only UT2004 owners. And on CD/DVD they want to put UT2004 executables (as it was on original UT2004 CD/DVD). Is it going to be another type of license?? How much is it going to cost?? Where can I find information about quantity of sold CDs/DVDs with UT2003, UT2004?? Thanks you.

After a quick search, found out that a commercial license for the UT2004 engine is $350,000. Plus there's probably a percentage royalty, but couldn't find out what it was.
350k is the price for a full license, w/o royalties. For small publishers, you will usually have to buy the full license, as Epic isn't going to risk losing money if your game goes under. For larger publishers, a cheaper license is offered w/ royalty percentage...
Incorrect.
Royalty-Bearing License
$350,000 per platform, $50,000 per additional platform PLUS 3% royalties
Royalty-Free License will cost you $750,000

Epic also claims that they are only licensing the engine to "proven industry leaders" or something like that. So if you aren't a known entity, you are up a creek.
For very-little engine development for an FPS-type game, your best bets are probably Torque, possible the Cube Engine, or Irrlicht. Torque is the most fully-featured engine, and has the most potential for developing a full-fledged FPS game with no engine development (it's a modified Tribes II engine), and the early version of their shader engine is looking pretty good.
