Vehicle design

I played some GT4 and a friend's house, and found something in the game that I had not found anywhere else. Each vehicle is customizable in numerous ways, some of which drastically change performance, while others cater more to the players style. You all probably know this by now. I will admit that I am somewhat behind the times. My question is: Is there a fighting game out there that allows the user to change the machine (or person even) with the level of detail that GT4 has? I would prefer a game that uses physics to an extent as well (in the same manner as GT4). Does any one know of a good demo or title I can look up. I would even go for a google suggestion. Thanks Thermo

I dont know how much control you have in GTA...

There is a free game called Little Fighter 2 which is actually quite good for a martial arts game, and it allows you to create completely new characters. I don't know how easy it is, but it does :o)

http://www.acid-play.com has it for download, I think...

The Armored Core series for Playstation and PS2. They take the mech-design system popular in MechWarrior and other slow, crawling giant robot sim games and apply it to a hyper-fast behind view shooter. The game has an excellent death match mode.

If you have access to 2 playstation 1s and TVs and a link cable, I recommend Armored Core: Master of Arena, which includes 2 discs (each with different single-player content), allowing you to play head-to-head on separate consoles.

Its a spectacularly good game. While many games have mech/vehicle design systems, few of them allow you as much power over the vehicle (change basic locomotive type, arm structure, etc) while simultaneously a) maintaining balance, b) reflecting all equipment/structure changes in the appearance of the vehicle, and c) keeping everything looking sexy.

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse people. I agree that Grand Theft Auto does not have control over car customization.
The game I was refering to was Gran Turismo 4, a racing game on PS2. In game you can switch tires, clutches, brakes, transmissions, etc. You can reduce the weight of the vehicle, and with certain items like the brakes you can adjust them to your needs(front to back brake balancing). I am looking for that level of customization in other games.

Without a doubt Armored Core.

Either Master of Arena (woot pxtl) or even Armored Core 2. They are customizable enough to cater to different styles and speeds of gameplay.
