My view, is that replayability of RPGs can be best made by making them very PLAYABLE. This means making the gameplay mechanics for whatever character they choose to play very good. If a player wants to play as a brawling chandelier swinging guy, then they can. I think that the best RPGs should be able to outdo some of the best action games, with really amazing combat, which combines a good freedom of movement, well balanced weapons and combat, with humour wit and character. So that if you are playing a (old-world fantasy role playing game, the combat can be fast furious and fun.

Combat should be fun and stylish with narrow excapes, and close encounters, "You attack the ogre with your axe, but he grabs it and slams it into the door. Grabbing the fallen bandit''s sword, you block the nearest goblins attack, and with sparks snickering everywhere, you send him flying into the corner, the third goblin dives out of the way of your sword and tries to grab your shield from you, but is no match for you. The ogre leaps straight forward, trying to flatten you like a tortilla.

-Excuse the prose.

You can say that as a game should concentrate on what it does best that this can''t be possible... Maybe.
