MS3D style UV mapping in 3DS Max 6?

So far I've seen some basic 3DS Max texture stuff, but I can't really figure it out. I can sort of map things like a box or cylinder...but how can I use it like MS3D and simply flatten things out and move them around a texture? IU was looking at texporter, but that doesn't seem to remap UV coords...it just generates a reference image for creating the texture. I'm kinda new to 3DS Max. Any help?

The thing you are looking for is the "Unwrap UVW" modifier. At least in Max5 it was ;)

That's correct. It's the same in max 6. There's a tutorial included with max 6 for this. It's listed under "Materials and Mapping Tutorials" --> "Using Materials and Rendering Tools" --> "Using Unwrap UVW..."
