Is there a way update menus in KDE?

Newly installed programs seem to have stopped adding themselves to the Start menu in KDE. They come up in IceWM and enlightenment fine but I have to manually add them in KDE. Is there an option that I've tripped somewhere? I can't seem to find it!
It depends on your distribution...
