Font recommendations
Can anyone recommend a tool to create fonts for my game? Alternatively is there a good website offering free fonts.
I''d really like fonts similar to Maro Tennis (see a few pics at: http://www.happypuppy.com/n64/reviews/mariotenni-n64-1.html)
Thanks,
Karen

Most of those types of funky fonts aren''t usually what you would find when you look for a TrueType font for use in a game. There might be some fonts that someones created for people to use in their game, but if you want good looking fonts that don''t look like your typical word processor font then you''re gonna have to create your own. You can do that with any graphic editing package (Photoshop, PSP, etc).

Err, neocron said TrueType fonts, which you can''t make with Photoshop or any other raster editing program. A program that handles bezier curves is needed, such as a "drawing" program [i.e. Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw] or one dedicated to font creation.
Xara3D is great for making your own 3d fonts. I think the web site is www.xara.com and the price for the program is rather cheap ($39 or so) and has a demo-version. The downside to the demo is all saved images have the Xara logo strewn about the whole image. The program makes 3d text that''s static, animated, beveled etc. You may like to check it out.

Thanks all! I went ahead and just drew the font characters by hand; colored them in, and popped the sheet in the scanner. A bit of post-processing in Photoshop and they look fairly good (for programmer art).
Jumpster: I went ahead and bought Xara3D - it''s a pretty cool package! Thanks for the info.
