I've installed SuSe 9.1 Personal, but it doesn't come with the dev tools for C++. How can I get YaST to find these for me (gcc, make etc.)? When I open YaST->"Change Source of Installation" then it doesn't show any internet sources of installation. What do I have to enter as the installation sourc to be able to download things off the net? EDIT: Oh, and another question: My screen is all messed up. There are black 1 inch edges on the top and bottom and 0.5 inch edges on the right and left sides of the scree. And the part of the screen that actually shows something is sort of squished together in the middle horizontally. I have a NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti200 w/ 3d acceleration NOT enabled (because it says that the drivers are buggy). Why is this and what can I do to fix this? - Kavalants

First question: see here, maybe it could help. I'm not sure it's the same problem though.
Second question: Most probably there are buttons on your monitor: play with these ;)

1.) I tried what's written in that other thread, but when I search for "gcc" in YaST then it doesn't find it.

2.) I fixed the video problem. The buttons on my monitor weren't working for some reason after messing around with the SuSe display settings, but then I switched off my monitor for a sec and that fixed it.

So now I only need help with the first one.

Suse personal doesn't come with things like gcc, but you can get them from the suse ftp site apparently...

You have to add the SuSE ftp to your list of places where YaST looks for packages.

Yes, I know that now, but adding "ftp.suse.com" doesn't work. I get

ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media)

Does this mean that I have to enter some other directory?

Anybody?

What do I need to enter as the SuSe FTP download source? "ftp.suse.com" and "ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.1/suse/i586/" don't work and it's nearly impossible to install all the packages manually from the latter one.

that picture seems to suggest that you've included too much or too little in your URL...
