Alpha channel textures in photoshop

Hoi! This is both an art and programming problem, I am not sure which so I put it here for creative answers :-) I am trying to create a 32-bit textures in Photoshop with an alpha channel. I create the channel, draw my mask and then save to various formats. For some reason when I load it in OpenGL I can not get the alpha channel data out of the image. I tried with SDL_image, DevIL, and SDL's bitmap. I tried BMP, TGA formats. I am pretty sure I am doing something wrong in photoshop when I save it but I do not know I followed all the directions and have an alpha channel. I save to 32-bit and click the alpha channel button. When I save TGA it keeps saying I have to save as a copy, so I am guessing I have to do something to flatten the channel? I am stumped. I am using Photoshop 7 if that matters. I do not have a manual my copy came with a tablet I bought. Well, it has some docs on the CD but it didn't come with a book. Thanks
Simple problem, simple fix

Thanks buddy I give you a rating but I am new so it doesn't make any difference for you :-)

Well I am glad to know, I got it with a drawing tablet on Ebay but it didn't have a manual and I was following tuts off the net. I thought I was just being an idiot because I could not figure out why it would not work :-) Now it works!

Thanks! Very appreciated!
