Modeling software for detailed models
I am looking for a 3d modeling tool that is made for only modeling and does it best. Animation, Texturing, Rendering, and all that stuff is not needed for me at this time. i only have a few hunred to spend.
I'll start off by pointing you to this list...

The software is grouped by price range, so that will help you narrow down your search. The links go right to the product page...so it's just a little bit of research to find that one that's right for you.

i'd sggest cinema 4D, 3DS max, Maya, or Lightwave.
they are all kind of expensive, but they are all really good. cinema 4D probably costs the least, but you can pirate all of them off of kazaa or something (j/k!). if you want to get sued millions of dollars.

the pirating thing was a joke!! do not do it!
but seriously, cinema 4D is the best for it's money.

00squeaky at your service...maybe.
if you want a legal, cost effective solution, try Blender or Milkshape 3d
"Game Programming" in an of itself does not exist. We learn to program and then use that knowledge to make games.
Well i have 2 questions, first what is the differnce between Poly modelinging and NURBS modeling, like what are the pro's and con's of both(did a search on google but could not find much on that subject of describing both), and what do the four programs mentioned above(C4D, Maya, MAX) uuse?
What's wrong with using what you already have?
Really, Lightwave 8 is not a chump program, it's very good.
I don't know about most people, but if I shelled out that much for LW8 I would not be asking for a *good* modeling program, I'd be pounding away with LW.

For highly detailed organic models, ZBrush beats anything else I've seen. The interface is a little strange to start with, but very easy to get familiar with thanks to the great documentation and friendly user forum. Hope this helps.

Well my reel question what what is a good NURBS modeling tool and see if they have a demo version. I just wanted to see what the difference is between Poly modeling a NURBS modeling.
Methinks you have pirated software...prove otherwise.

NURBS modeling is typically used for smooth looking inorganic objects....like cars. The real difference is that the whole process is based on making a mesh between Curves, whereas with Polygonal modeling, the mesh is connected between points (vertices).
I believe that a typical NURBS model is "heavier" than an equivalent Polygon model. (I can't think of the proper term...its like "high-poly", except that NURBS don't use polygons).
To my knowledge, I can't think of any games that use NURBS surfaces. Maybe there's something out there, but it's certainly not common. Probably, most engines don't even support them.
