Hello guys... Alright, i am going to buy a new motherboard, and it expects 133 Mhz SD-RAM as default. Now, my SD-RAM is only 100 Mhz, so i would like to ask if it is possible to use my 100 Mhz RAM. Can i somehow tell the motherboard that the RAM is only 100 Mhz??? I am sorry for posting this question in this forum, cuz i know it doesnt really have anything to do with gameprogramming. But there is no forum here on gamedev.net for things like this. Thank you, René
You could probably use the 100 Mhz SDRAM chips on the 133Mhz motherboard, BUT it wouldn''t be very good for the ram chips at all, get 133Mhz SDRAM - that''s your best bet.

Most Mother Board I know (in fact all) support both SDRAM100 and SDRAM 133 as far as they support SDRAM133.

Most likely there''ll be a jumper setting on the motherboard that switches the Ram bus speed between 100 and 133 MHz. Read your motherboard manual first though!

Hey man, my bro bought a and Asus board and he was faced with the same problem, the dude said that there would probably be some kind of jumper or something on the motherboard, so look for that. If you have a higher MHZ ram then the bus has, then you it should underclock the ram to the specified speed.
