Get NoteWorthyComposer !

It''s a midi composer, none of that mod tracker crap

All I''d want is a good midi composer with alot of effect contrls and realistic samples

"mod tracker crap"?

are you aware Deux Ex used MOD format music? That tons of PC games before that used tracked music? And that pretty much every console prior to the PS1 used tracked formats also (NES, GB, GBC, SNES, Genesis, and so on)? In fact, the GBA still uses tracked music! I guess all that music was "crap", huh?

Unfortunatly any joe can find the answers to these questions on google

Well, hopefully the fellow I asked is honest enough not to do that. And I''ll be able to tell if he used google or not pretty quickly (it''s usually obvious).

lol answer these questions. anyone with the power of google can answer that. i have a 2.1 music technology degree from staffordshire university uk where we used pretty much any technology in the music biz,

formants, ahh you mean voice characteristics. at the moment im messing about with c sound and tuning my 1st 3rd and 5th formants to create the monk chant in halo. im all for pure live recording even if it is sysnthesised. anybody else into csound?

i feel challenged now ok what were the qs ill copy and paste and attempt to explain off the top of my head. beginners font take this as gospel cos i may get some things wrong

oh and by the way the prodigy SUCK.

what''s the difference between AM and RM synthesis?
- not a strong area of mine i must admit. did a lot of work at college with this but not much more i can remember. (its made me research it tho now...thanks dude)

what is a vcf and how does it work?

what are five types of filters?

band notch high low and ... hmmm escapes me for now. if you use reaktor at all all the above q''s you asked are vert important in creating realistic synths
what is a formant?
voices need them to sound realistic (synthesis)
what are five common LFO destinations?

you seen to be a very synthy type of person. not my strong point i must admit. i am aware of all your questions and without delving into books (which you would do anyway if faced with this) ive attempted to answer it on the fly and not done that well it seems. fact is i still have a degree, ive recorded about 30 demo tracks for bands created, game music and applied it (look at fullf1.com soon for the mp3''s of this, i need to sort out my ftp password)

anyway. good for you you also know music. contribute to the music community on my site and lets see how good you really are. its all about learning baby

would help if I knew what your site was

and yeah, I''m into synthesis. It''s lots of fun trying to recreate various synth leads and basses from songs, deconstructing patches, creating emulations of various real sounds, etc. And actually, I have no formal training in the area, I''ve been into electronic music for only about a year (but I have many years of classical piano training, and a fair knowledge of theory as well).
You know, I just always assumed by the name that Cakewalk wasn''t "professional" grade. But if you''re using it, Andrew, then it can''t be so bad, after all. I''ll try to find a demo or something.
gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.
By the way, I find it interesting that I've started a minor flame war over, of all things, audio software.

Yes, enough with the flames.

Anyway, to answer the question I was asked on the last page - you export MIDI from Cakewalk, and into Reason. If you don't like Cakewalk, then just export MIDI from whatever program you do use, into Reason.

Avatar God: Cakewalk is most definatly profesional quality. It's got all the technical stuff, and it also has a lot of features aimed at composers (staff view is the main one). I think it gets misjudged as not powerful enough because the first thing you see is this simple composer-oriented interface. (again, the staff view is something frequently seen in some very unprofesional software).

Also, I think people are dissappointed by the fact it tries to intergrate audio and video stuff, and fails miserably. It is most definatly a profesional grade MIDI editor, but don't expect it to be much chop for major waveform audio work (it's ok if you just want a vocal track or something).

a_zircon the site is fullf1.com go to the forums section. I would really like your advice over a few things if you are not that busy.

i will admit synthesis is possibly my weakest area my skills i think are

composition, sound creation, arrangement, recording techniques the program cubase itself and general music manipulation.

im tring to get the hang of reaktor (which incidently is teaching me synthesis as i delve deeper and csound) om not terribly great as yet with both as i am learning (as it were) ive done a brief assignment on csound a few years ago but forgtto everything. ive just bought the csound book from amazom(£50 would you blieve) this im sure has all the synthesis information illever need wqith the clear depth it goes into (man its heavy) and also a few other audio books that are directed to games.

yeah any help into reaktor or csound programs (if you are a god at them) would be a great help man. cheers for the questions before they really have given me different areas to look at.

anyway sofware. I really dont like cakewalk. kind of a cheapmans cubase and compared to cubase and logic i think it is awfully set out and not easy to use. i tried to do a quick final fantasy 7 composition in it about a week ago (sonar i think theyve called it now or is that something else) and i found it 20 times as dificult as cubase.

yeah check my site out. hopefully we can get a community there dedicated to producing and creating music. If the site gets dedicated to this there will definately be a name change. thanks guys.

Andrew Russell: Thanks! Yeah, that was exactly what I thought. Reminded me too much of the old Finale, etc. And I''ve already got software for detailed waveform work, so that''s not a problem. I can''t get it to bounce down, but that''s another issue (I''ll get around to figuring it out, eventually).

You know, rholding, zircon, you COULD e-mail each other instead of hijacking threads. I figure this one''s about dead, so you might try that instead of prolonging its pathetic lifespan.

Yes please.
Hmm. But one more q, Andrew...

Cakewalk Home Studio XL 2004 $ 149.98
Home Studio PLUS:
* PowerFX Dyad DXi Sampler and Sample Library CD
* Cakewalk SpectraFX
* Cakewalk Audio FX 1
* Cakewalk Audio FX 2
* And much more....

or just

Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 $ 79.98

I don't really know what all that stuff is, so I don't know. Is that stuff I need? Or, at least, is that stuff useful and stuff that you think I might want?

//edit. Thanks for closing the Lounge thread, btw.
