Hello to everyone. I''m not really an artist but I want to create a cartoony image of a finger for my project. What I''m imagining is a photo of my finger (already taken) and have a toon shader effect. Is there anyway I can do this with gimp or any other free product? Thanks in advance.
Not sure what you mean when you say cartoony.
Have you tried using the oilify filter (under "Artistic")?

Or ...
- Try converting to an indexed palette without dithering.
The number of colors depends on the image (probably between 5 and 16).
See what looks good.

- Convert back to RGB.

- Play with other options for the colors.
Like saturation/brightness/contrast for example.

Yeah right ...
try to import a photo of your finger in Maya or 3ds max as a 3D object.
