I''m not sure if this is the best forum to ask (I could also have asked it in games design or graphics programming or so I guess...), but what would you find the best size of tiles for a tile based game (not isometric, just square tiles). It''s for an rpg and the tiles are things like grass, mud, beach, ... I can''t choose between 32x32, 48x48 or 64x64 32x32 is a bit too small maybe 48x48 isn''t supported the way I want by vidcards, but seems like a good size. 64x64 might be nice for a high resolution, but would mean much more work drawing the tiles. Which one should I choose?
I would say 32x32 its may be a smaller than 48x48 and 64x64 but its a nice size and easy to work with, also two 32x32 is equal to a 64x64 tile.

It depends on your resolution, frankly.

Oldschool SNES RPGs usually went with 16x16, when, when applied properly, can be stunningly beautiful. Well, technically, they had a palette of 16x16 tiles made from 8x8 tiles
