Hello, I am new to this forum, but heard that this was a great place to start. I have a concept for a video game that I feel is revolutionary. The concept behind the game is very remarkable, marketable, unique, and will change the way that some developers make games. The delima that I have is that I need for a company to pickup the idea and no one wants to pursue ideas outside of their developers. I am currently taking C++ for a CIS degree, but it does not tickle my fancy from a programming stand point. I want the world to be able to enjoy the excitement of my idea. Please, any advise would be great, programmers, developers, designers! Thank you.
Unfortunatly, it is difficult to get your idea made into an actual game. It certainly won''t happen overnight. You can either work your way up in a company or you can take the indie route and develope it yourself. Those are about the only options I know of. Truth be told, the industry is very skeptical of ideas. The game industry wants proof that your idea can be executed well in an actual game. You seem very passionate about that industry. I would direct that passion towards working your way up in the industry. You have to get in on the ground floor.

If you can''t be bothered to develop it then it is doubtful that anyone else will.

Companies simply don''t buy ideas, especially not from people outside the industry as the chances are too high that the idea is not commercially viable (its Quake but 500 time bigger) or technically impossible. For a full explanation of why see http://www.obscure.co.uk/faq_idea.shtml

another option is to be rich enough to pay other people to do it because, as wonderful as your idea is, (nearly) everyone else has at least one game idea that they think of just as greatly.

I have the greatest game ideas you will ever hear....I''m just waiting for a publisher to come by and offer me big $$$ for it. It''s been almost 21 years, but I''m still thinking positively
