Below is an exercise to get the old grey matter going. Its open to anyone who is interested, as long as you abide by the rules!!! Exercise: To come up with a board game that will amaze the world. It can be any type of board game, and can have any amount of players. Post your board game in the following format: Name of game: No. of players: Description of game: Rules: Example of play (not required if you think the rules explain it enough): Rules: 1) It must be set in World War 2 2) Dice must be involved in some way 3) Your post must be NO LONGER than 1000 words 4) It must only contain objects that would fit into a box. Have fun!! P.S [Edit] There is another post called 'An exercise in writing' in the writing for games forum that I have started if you are intersted. [edited by - boolean on April 13, 2004 5:37:19 AM]
Couple of questions:
Can it be a really really BIG box?
Do we get royalties?

You turn the corner and find yourself face to face with the enemy! You open fire and ''click'' - no ammo! You watch his trigger slide back and ''click'' - he''s got no ammo either! Rooting around in your pockets you find a pair of dice... the deciding battle of WWII is about to be fought by stoning each other to death with six sided cubes...

Now this epic battle can be fought in your living room! In this surprisingly small box are two authentic dice, an instruction manual, and two life insurance policies. Bring the thrill of sitting in a very wet trench with no ammo back home to blighty!

It must be a normal box!! But the rules of reality do not state what items come with the board game (ie. It might come with live ammo...)
Include POLAND!!!
Was there trench warfare in WWII? I thought that was a WWI thing...

Title: Stalingrad Craps

1-4

Premise: You're a seventeen-year-old Russian soldier in the bombed-out ruins of Stalingrad. The seige is on, and your family is starving. Your only hope to save them is to win a fortune playing craps against various local people, usually just your standard poor folk, but often soldiers, government officials, or policemen. The trick is that there is still a war to be fought, and you can't be bothered playing dice all damn day to feed your young sister.

Gameplay: Everyone gets a little gun, twenty dollars of Monopoly money, and a pair of gloves with the fingers worn off. When you put down your money, the guy with the dice rolls them, and everyone shoots at each other. If the dice come up craps, then you all get killed by Nazis. If it's a seven or an eleven, you split up the loot and make a run for it. For any other result under seven, you get caught by patroling guards and sent back to your posts. Above seven, the remaining players try again.

Beat that, chumps!

P.S. - Poland is for sissies. The only cool person to come out of Poland is the Pope, and he'd be nothing without that awesome hat.

To show my lack of a sense of humor, here's a (half-way) serious suggestion. How about ripping off Hero Quest? Or maybe it's just a small scale Warhammer?

Name of Game: WWII Quest
No. of players: 2+
Description of game:

Basically, you're given a fairly generic board. Say, one side has some city terrain while the other is more grass/out in the country. Now, you have your terrain pieces, soldier pieces, etc. to set up various encounters. You're given a set of encounters that will progress you through a Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan style story. You can sell supplemental packs providing maybe a couple tank models, or maybe even some pieces to be used for the war in the pacific (if done right, the grassy side of the board could probably be made to double for those pacific battles you see in Thin Red Line and We Were Soldiers (yes, I realize that's the wrong war, but you get the idea)) Tactical combat in a board game.

Rules: Thinking you'd start with Hero Quest as a base, add in some Warhammer 40K, and then make it work

Oh, and Iron Chef Carnage? Think "Popemobile"

EDIT: Complying with the format

Okay this isn''t original because it''s based on the games Pretty Pretty Princess and Trivial Pursuit, but I thought it was an amusing idea:
The game box contains one full set each of British and German WWII uniforms and equipment, a box of cards for each trivia category, a dice, a game board, and two pewter soldier playing pieces. Players who correctly answer a trivia question get to put on the corresponding piece of uniform - firt player fully dressed wins!

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

boolean: Are these people, by any chance, doing your homework?? It just sounds like something a teacher would assign their students. I''m just saying this cause I was told to do something very much like this in a media class in highschool.

I was going to put a disclaimer saying it wasnt, but just to clarify:

THIS IS NOT FOR MY HOMEWORK AND IS JUST FOR A BIT OF FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah, the Popemobile. How could I forget?

Title: Nazi!!

Players: 1+

It''s just Yahtzee with pictures of German historical figures on the dice.

1 - Blondi (Hitler''s dog)
2 - Otto Dietrich
3 - Erwin Rommel
4 - Eva Hitler
5 - Heinrich Himmler
6 - Adolf Hitler

If you get five of a kind, you shout "Nazi!!"
