check this anatomy please?

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

Looks to me like she has unusually long legs, especially below the kneecap. Is this an alien character or human? For a human, the eyes are a bit too rounded...it seems like the limbs stretch too far after the joints (shins and forearms).

If you were going for a taller character, make the body bigger and cut a little bit off the joint-extensions, and if you were going for a shorter character, keep the body the same, but shorten the legs and arms.

Overall, very nice.

BTW, this is just from looking at the character, if I missed anything/something is anatomically (sp) correct and I said it wasn''t, I''m sure someone else will flame me harshly for it.

Chin is far too pointy.

I think he was going for an anime style, if so the eyes and chin are fine.

But the legs are too long or the arms are too short, if this is a human character.
I made an image to help you with your proportions. First thing, the reference came from Andrew Loomis'' "Figure Drawing for all it''s Worth". It is a great book and it is entirely FREE. You can find it on fineart.sk, It has helped me greatly improve my artwork.

The proportions is a bit off as you can see by the image, but the reason it doesn''t look good is because you have some physical "landmarks" in the wrong place and some that don''t exist at all. The image below is primarily for proportion and doesn''t show very much detail in anatomy(the book shows more). But landmarks come later, work on proportion first. Otherwise it''s like putting the cart before the horse.

Also your image is suffering from "puffy marshmallow limb" syndrome. You need to learn how the muscles work underneath the skin before you can draw the anatomy properly. But this again is something to learn after you fully grasp proportion.

You are quite well off it seems, as your image is already the standard 8 head tall and 2 heads wide. All you need to work on is body placement and you will have proportion down pat. Then you can move onto bigger and better things. I hope all this helps! Go read the Loomis books, you won''t regret it(don''t forget to do all his exercises too)!

Well first of all thank you all for saying it''s a good start - I had the feeling my figure drawing had improved, but it''s very nice to hear from an objective observer that I''m not just deluding myself.

Second, I''m a girl, and yes it''s supposed to be an anime style human, thus the eyes and pointy chin. Should look better when I put some hair on her. I believe that it''s fairly standard for shoujo style anime characters to have disproportionately long legs, but I''ll investigate it more, thanks Retsu for that very educational diagram.
