Since the Gimp crapped out on my comp (complaining about not locating a dll or something) I need a new program for my pixel art. PSP 8 has too big paint brushes and photoshop would take too long to load just to edit a single bitmap.

Gimp recently took a crap on me too but a reinstall worked wonders.

Reinstall didn''t work, I must''ve tried to do it 10 times and I have evaluation copies of PSP8 and Photoshop.

then you first have to take care that everything , really everything , is removed from your previous buggy installation before trying to reinstall gimp ...
how did you removed gimp ? deleting the folder ?
it is never enough to delete the folder with the program. most of the times there is an uninstallshield . and this one is necessary for also removing dll stuff and registry entries ...

so do a search for the fragments ... there sure is some old not removed stuff colliding with the new setup.
there are also such programs like regcleaner ...
