Pre-Rendered Graphics
Hello, I want to know what everyone thinks about Pre-Rendered Graphics in games......
I am planning on starting a game that uses the techniqe..
what advantages do you think it could bring into the design
phase............
you mean like, say 2D tiles that look 3D in an Isometric game? Been done . I use it all the time, pre-render the 3D and then you just Blit to the screen (or backbuffer) and you are fine... A lot faster than 3D (at least on my computer ).

Pre-rendered graphics are very nice, yes.I like them a lot. They are very good for outdoor environments.

Personally I''m tired of pre-renders. I play a lot of console games and I''ve seen a lot of this and I think it looks like clay or plastic or something. Although the pre-rendered backgrounds in Final Fantasy 7 and 8 look very real, they just don''t have that artistic handdrawn quality to it. But I guess it depends on how well your renders look, and personal taste. Just make sure your pre-rendered stuff isn''t low quality.
