Why is it that so few games feature sight gags (ie. visual comedy) like cartoons and comedies? How can we implement them better?

Because they don''t necessarily cross cultural boundaries, may offend.
Because they may be ''dated'' - and outdated by the time the game is completed.
Because not everybody can improvise himself an humorist - fear programmer art, fear programmer humor.

Yeah, I agree with that Fruny. I am the only programmer I know who is considered funny by someone other than himself .

Most games don''t have the right tone for gags. The GTA series does have stuff similar to what you''re talking about.

Games with the proper tone do this a lot. . .

Konker''s Bad Fur Day and I-Ninja are both great examples.

As always with games, you can''t steal from other art forms or sciences unless you also improve the gameplay, and gameplay is usually not the strongpoint of what you are trying to acquire.

An example: in Stick Soldiers you can shoot the big round head off of a stick soldier - and you can lose yours. If you lose your head, you have 10 seconds until you die, and in those seconds you can either go and get your head back or shoot another soldiers head off and take it for your own. Visually funny and good gameplay at the same time.

That really is funny. Of course, it requires the seat of the stick soul to be somewhere in the torso of the stick soldier, but I''m down with that.
