Im playing ff9 on a psone right now. Its neat bc the resolution/tv combo make the screens look like they are rendered in voxels. To top that the interlacing makes the graphics smooth.

My favorite part about the game though is that it reminds me of the snes final fantasies...good times
Indeed it might be because of sentimental value, indeed the low-res games time was a great time .

And the era of more detailed rendered objects has come Once you let ''them'' look at something nicer it becomes ''theyre'' new standard, and the old becomes obsolete...

''Them'' are the gamers... it`s pretty interesting to record the phenomena, if you put them a good snes games they might as well not play it because they`ve seen better while in the `90 they`d play anything... I might be one of the them too, but I apreciate a good game without cutting edge graphics

One of the reasons i consider snes the best console for its time was because most of the games designed on that platform didnt have the high res graphics that we can pump out today. They had to focus on the game''s design to be successful...and as a result you had some of the best games ever developed; terranigma, ff6, chronotrigger...the list goes on. Right now there are so many games that are just a bunch of nice looking graphics that do squat all. A game isnt its graphics system because that is bound to be outdated regardless of the game. A good game is a game you are willing to play regardless of what it looks like.
Such wise words!

And completely true.
but then again a great game with great graphics (aka half life) can do brilliantly as well!

Low resolutions are nice and nostalgic, until you''re trying to snipe someone from a rediculously large distance and all you can see is a single pixel
i prefer lowres resolutions with higher quality over highres ones.. the lack of detail helps to visualise it more by brain actually. there are old games running at lowres looking more realistic than any new highres-creation just because of that.

oh, and about the snipering from ridiculous distances.. i hate pc-fps, i think they are the dumpest invention ever. but THAT is just me, i guess..
